 Save A Vet Canine Military Aid Save-A-Vet nfp is a 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to the caring and well-being of all military and law enforcement working animals.
For our soldiers, K-9's are much more than "Man's Best Friends's". These "dogs" help us sniff out explosive devices, perform search and rescue work, find illegal contraband and provide personal protections. They are true "Comrades". As a disabled Veteran, you can go to most any state and get free room and board. Something, that we at Save-A-Vet believe to be one of the right ways to treat those who fought for our freedom. At this time K9's are not considered veterans, but equipment. This is something we will continue to work on changing. In addition, K9's that are deemed to aggressive, are currently put down. Something else you would never hear about with a current disabled or "aggressive" soldier or law enforcement officer. We do understand the liability with adopting out a K9 that has been trained to attack or kill, or have in the past. But as a current disabled vet, I have the resources of the VA Hospital for medical treatment, a VA rep with the department of labor for work, VA housing to live in, and numerous other groups and organizations set up to help me live a normal life. We at Save-A-Vet believe the fellow soldiers, police officers, search and rescue and all other working K9's who serve side-by-side and protect us with their lives, deserve the same courtesy. |
